2. Do your packing from a packing/check list. Our lists are general and you need to adapt the list to your needs. Your list will most probably change as you eliminate unused items. When you get home from a trip, take note of anything you have not used and remove it from your packing list, do not pack unnecessary stuff, those in-case thingies.

3. When vacuum packing food, do not leave the foamalite in the pack. Get rid of any unnecessary packaging, it takes up space and it's just another item filling your rubbish bag.

4. Anything you pack in the fridge that is not vacuum packed must be in ADDIS plastic containers with 4-side locks that lock DOWN, they are totally leak-proof. The ones that lock up do not work as well. You sure don't want anything to leak out in your fridge

5. When camping in the bush or on West Coast, take single ply toilet paper, it burns easier than two-ply. And if you're going where there are no facilities, make a paper burner, it works like a charm, cause burning wet paper is not fun. Take an empty tin, cut out the top and bottom, cut out two little squares on either side at the bottom, big enough for lighter to enter (use long stemmed lighter). Make four small holes, two on either side, near the bottom for a wire handle that also serves to keep the paper in place. This works like a charm, see pictures.

Please send in your tips for camping and 4x4ing in general , as they are sure to benefits like-minded, outdoor folk.

1. For people with Roof-top Tents:

There is one thing that I cannot imagine travelling without - my EZ Wee (eezeewee) - if I had to get out of the roof-top tent in the middle of the night, climb down the ladder, do what I have to do, climb back up, I'd never get back to sleep.

With the EZ Wee, I just sit on my knees, make a wee, wipe and back to sleep - It fits so snuggly that there is no mess, no hassle. It works for men and women.

The EZ Wee was designed by a medical company for the disabled but it really works like a charm in roof-top tents. It comes out with just a short pipe, but we attach a long pipe that goes right down to the ground. When packing up I just rinse under a tap, roll up and put into a draw-string bag. At home I just give it a rinse with Jik.

We have EZ Wees in stock at the office, so just contact Marina - 021 913 4632 to buy.
