VOORHOEDE 4 X 4 - A MUST VISIT DESTINATION WITH LOADS OF FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
4 JULY 2010
A DAY OUTING TO THE OVERBERG
The Voorhoede 4x4 trail is situated just east of Caledon, in close proximity of the Caledon Casino, for those that might be interested in testing their hand and lady luck on completion of the trail. The trail offers two sections; the mountain section (9km) and the base of the mountain section (play section) (6km). We will drive various interesting obstacles, starting at the play area at the base of the mountain, where the difficulty will depend on the amount of rain that might have fallen close to the time of our visit. Great fun will be had by all in the play area, irrelevant on the amount of rain that might have fallen. The main section of the trail offers its own highlights, with the view point our main goal of the day for this section of the trail.
The mountain section of the trail will test the driving skills of each driver through the various obstacles, one of which is a steep loose gravel ascent just before reaching the panoramic viewpoint. The obstacles that will be encountered en-route may vary from seemingly impossible in the wet winter months, to challenging in the summer, with escapes at most obstacles, giving participants the peace of mind of not damaging their vehicles. The ascents and descents on the trail will test you and your vehicles capabilities in numerous places, once again giving you’re the opportunity to get to know your vehicle better and play around with different gear selections. The more adventurous drivers do not need to use the escape routes in the play area nor on the trail, which will ensure that adrenalin levels rise much higher than normal and clean all the cobwebs from you know where.
Upon completion of the trail a communal braai / picnic lunch will be enjoyed, where the normal Cederberg 4x4 formalities will take place, before everyone departs for home at their own time. Remember, for those that want to test their luck, this will be your opportunity to stop at the casino on your way home. May she treat you well and make your day.
