NIGHT DRIVE

AN EVENING OF FUN AT UITKYK WINE ESTATE

FRIDAY 13 APRIL 2011

AN EVENING OF NIGHT DRIVING THRILLS AND FUN

The tracks we will be utilizing during our night drive on Uitkyk Wine Estate are not open to the general public. Many of the tracks and trails are used on a daily basis on the farm. An additional touch of excitement is added with a panoramic viewpoint (500m above sea level), a technical descent section followed by various man- made obstacles, giving extra flavour to the evening. Driving any trail at night, whether you are familiar with the trail or not, will add a new perspective to 4x4 driving and will take your comfort zone boundaries to new levels. After the night drive we will end the evening with a social braai, where the highlights of the evening will be relived. Here is your opportunity to enjoy a Friday evening with a different twist in its tail.  The whole family is welcome to join like-mined people and experience the beauty the Western Cape has to offer.

The farm is situated on the R44 between Stellenbosch and Klapmuts and is home to the oldest double storey manor house in the country, dating back to 1788. As we are visiting the estate after hours, the manor house will unfortunately not be open to view the most amazing original wall murals discovered under fifteen layers of paint and restored as close as possible to their original state. This, together with the fine collection of antiques, will ensure a return visit during the normal visiting hours, seven days a week from 08h00 to 17h00. You might even consider spoiling yourself and the family to a pre-arranged picnic basket, to be enjoyed on green lawns under large old oak trees, complimented with some of the top quality wines produced on the farm. A practical children’s jungle Jim and the many active squirrels will keep the children busy while the parents relax and enjoy the history-filled ambiance of the surroundings. A must visit destination for more than one reason.
