General

Do you dream of just getting away from it all? Where you can let your hair down and be yourself, without the responsibility of having to tend to the children or your spouse/boyfriend pulling in the reins or putting a dampener on your fun? You can do this on an all-exclusive ladies getaway in the great outdoors, surrounded by like-minded ladies, sharing the same interests and dreams? If you have never had the opportunity to live this dream, here is an opportunity of a lifetime not to be missed.  If these few questions and statements have tickled your curiosity, continue reading.  Tell as many ladies as possible about this “All-Exclusive Ladies 4x4 Getaway” to the Karoo Erdvark 4x4 trail and get them involved.

Vehicles

Due to the venue we will be visiting, only vehicles with low-range capabilities can be accommodated. Here is your opportunity to invite friends and family, with these types of vehicles, to join you and your friends on this very popular “All-Exclusive Ladies 4x4 Getaway” to the Karoo Erdvark 4x4 trail in the Karoo.

Agenda

Having completed the formalities at the rendezvous, we will head north on the N1 over DuToitskloof Pass. Our first stop will be the famous and well-known Lord Milner Hotel at Matjiesfontein. Here we will enjoy light refreshments and a bus tour of the town with Johnny, of ‘Maak a Las’ fame, as our guide. His good sense of humour and sharp, witty comments will ensure good entertainment and bring a smile to many faces. Leaving Matjiesfontein we will continue further north to Leeu-Gamka, turning North West on the Fraserburg road. After approximately 40km we will turn right onto the gravel road and head for the farm Boplaas and home to the Karoo Erdvark 4x4 Trail, where we will set camp for the three nights. This is a big bonus as you will only be required to set and break camp once. The large thorn trees in the camp offer sufficient shade and there are full ablution facilities, consisting of hot/cold showers and flush toilets, a spacious scullery and enough electrical power points throughout the camp. Remember your electrical extension leads. Having set camp you will have the opportunity to relax and share quality time with friends and like-mined ladies. It will also allow you enough time for the final preparations for the teams’ introductions that will take place in the evening. A dinner consisting of a cottage pie or macaroni, beacon and cheese will be supplied.

After a leisurely breakfast in the camp we will drive the Tafelkop 4x4 trail on the farm. Being in the Karoo the trail mainly consists of tracks negotiating the many different plateaus. The trail offers various ascents and descents where driving skills will be tested. We will circumnavigate Tafelkop Mountain, encountering numerous interesting obstacles en-route, ensuring that the drivers are kept alert and on their toes at all times, arriving at a viewpoint overlooking the greater Karoo, with the Swartberg Mountain in the far distance. The trail is not a vehicle breaker and will give you enough time to enjoy the beauty of the Karoo and interaction with your fellow passengers. Depending on the time we require to complete the 4x4 trail, we will have the opportunity to explore the Koekemoe River and maybe even enjoy a swim. Another social relaxing evening will be enjoyed at the camp where a Spitbraai dinner will be served.

Saturday will see a leisurely start to the day. After breakfast we will drive the short “Die Aar” trail. Not only will the viewpoint, with panoramic views over the landscape below, be good enough reason to drive the trail, it is the challenge en-route that will ensure adrenalin levels being much higher than normal. Although it is the same track up and down the route to the viewpoint, the off-camber driving with sharp turns and the technical ascents and descents will keep you alert and concentrating, making this a very popular trail to drive. We should return to camp by mid afternoon, giving everyone enough time to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the camp. The evening will be a self-catered braai around the communal camp fire where all the Cederberg 4x4 formalities take place.

Sunday morning after breakfast we will break camp and depart for Cape Town via Merweville, Sutherland and Ceres. Driving these off-the-beaten-track roads en-route to Cape Town will ensure that you experience many of the gems our country has to offer, not normally visited on excursions. En-route we will stop for a self-catered picnic lunch. Having negotiated the Thrompsberg Pass the “All-Exclusive Ladies 4x4 Getaway” will official come to an end. It is here we will say our last good-byes before heading home in our own directions.

Spread the word and get as many friends as possible involved. Be sure to have your cameras and videos on hand to capture those special moments to be shared with friends upon your return.  Let us enjoy the beauty of the Karoo  and preserve it for generations to come by only leaving our footprints behind.

Slow down, life is passing you by !!!!!!

29MHz RADIOS (THIS IS IMPORTANT)

Communication between participating vehicles on any 4x4 excursion is important for many reasons. The fun part is the many interesting stories that are shared among participants taking the boredom out of the long distances we need to travel to enjoy the great outdoors.
