Photograph requirements:

 

Must Be:

  • in .jpg format

  • size 640 x 480 pixels

  • resolution no more than 72 d.p.i.

 

Must Have:

  • a number (automatically generated by camara)

  • each selected photo (with automatically generated number) must have an individual caption (description of photo) in the covering e-mail only. NOT AS PART OF THE PHOTO NUMBER

 

No other format will be accepted for publication on the web

To Resize/Rename an image:

 

  • Right Click on the Image you want to send
  • Click on Rename and PLEASE give the photo a short name, preferably one word and lower case. DO NOT name it with the caption.
  • Click on Send To
  • Select Mail Recipient
  • Select Show more Options
  • Select Small (640 x 480)

 

When the  E-Mail opens, just type in name of photographer, the Trip/Trail, the Date and the Caption and send to webmaster@cederberg4x4.co.za

 

This will only send one image at a time, but that's okay. Just be sure to put your name and the Caption in each mail.

To Resize/Rename Photographs, follow the following instructions:

 

If you do not have software for editing photos, just download Irfan View, an easy to use software package that is FREE TO DOWNLOAD from the following link: www.irfanview.com and follow instructions for the installation setup.

 

With Irfan View downloaded, do the following:

 

  • Plug the Camera into the Computer

  • Open the program Irfan View

  • Click on the File menu, then click on Open (or click on the first icon on the left, the File Open icon) and find the photos on your camera

  • Open an Image

  • Click on the Image menu and click on Resize/Resample

  • In the Resize/Resample menu, on the right hand side, click the 640 x 480 button

  • At the bottom left hand corner you will see DPI: make sure the number is 72

  • Click OK

  • Then in Irfan View, click File menu and click Save As (or click the third Icon from the left).

  • Ignore the JPEG/GIF save options small menu that pops up

  • In the Save Picture As menu select where you want to save the photo

  • Give the image a name and number. Please make it a short name with NO spaces and lower case or a number. (E.g. fishriver and riverbed or 01 and 02.) Please do not name the photo with the caption.

  • For the Save as Type: JPG – JPG/Jpeg Format is to be selected

  • Click Save

 

Captions:


When sending in the photos by e-mail, state name of photographer, the name of trail/trip and the date then just list the photos by number and add the captions

 

e.g.  Trip – 33 degrees Latitude – photos by Trix Radyn
        Date – October 2009
        01 – Crossing the Fish River
        02 – Camping in a dry river bed

        etc.
